Cynthia Rowley Spring 2012

“The optical exuberance of gold; Flash mobs of floral and animated shapes; The thrill of adornment in forced perspectives” is how Cynthia Rowley described her Spring 2012 collection shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  The runway was a mirror that reflected an opulence of glamour mixed in with a bit of grunge as seen in the use of embroidered lattice.  There were muted watercolors painted boldly on floral dresses that gave way to solid cream flowing feminine cocktail wear.

There were hints that Rowley was targeting the edgier, hipster girl with her leather mesh tops that gave off a rock and roll vibe along with the floral lattice bonded pants and the leather cut lace shorts.

Accessories added a pop of optical exuberance with gold mesh socks, metallic and leather mesh sandals, enamel “bow-lo” necklaces and gold/black soccer bags.

The collection was fun and edgy, the lattice intricate and eye-catching and overall it was the perfect intersection of where art meets fashion through the carefully planned use of texture.
