Christian Dior, the French fashion house best known for it’s luxury couture, has launched an online magazine called DiorMag.  The idea behind this online technology is to showcase the brand’s history and timeline in addition to using the site as a media outlet to live stream their Fall/Winter 2012-2013 runway show scheduled for Friday, March 2nd at 8:30am ET.  The house will be working with London Fashion Blogger Susie Bubble of StyleBubble to provide live tweets during the show.

DiorMag was launched on February 29th because “days like today don’t come around very often in life. Or in any case, four times less. Every four years, leap day slips in between February 28th and March 1st. For convenience’s sake we call it February 29th, but there’s much more to it than that. It’s a whole extra day – a breach in the calendar, a door that opens onto another time.”

The magazine has launched with eight articles to start with.  There are updates from it’s flagship boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne.  The online publication tells the backstory of the brand and it’s lifestyle merchandise including their line of accessory and beauty products.  There are editorials to view and new updates to be explored.

In addition, DiorMag will be used to showcase hi-res photos and videos with longer run times.

At the current time the magazine is only available in French and English but plans are to translate the site to other languages.  Future plans also include a version designed specifically for viewing on tablet and mobile devices.
