After a long break the British pop girl group reunited for a lively and theatrical performance at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremonies. The Spice Girls arrived in cabs and sung their hearts out. The group is comprised of five members, who each later adopted nicknames initially ascribed to them: Melanie Chisholm (“Sporty Spice”),Emma Bunton (“Baby Spice”), Melanie Brown (“Scary Spice”), Victoria Beckham (“Posh Spice”), and Geri Halliwell (“Ginger Spice”).
The costume choices remained true to character and their namesake.
Here is the fashion breakdown from left to right:
Emma Bunton, Baby Spice, looked adorable in a pink dress with a plunging neckline by Maggi Cooke. Peep toe shoes in silver sparkles completed the look.
Victoria Beckham, married to Soccer Star David Beckham, dazzled in a custom designed black mini by Giles Deacon with gold embroidery. The back had a long train of cascading ruffles.
Melanie Chislom, Sporty Spice, looked like she was off to the country club in a white jumpsuit by JD Sports. The jumpsuit had a sparkling waistband with slits on the pants. She then added a comfortable pair of wedge sneakers.
Geri Halliwell’s sartorial choice was a red Suzanne Neville strapless mini dress. The glam factor was the Isabel Marant gold glitter boots.
Melanie Brown rocked the night wearing a Zuhair Murad jumpsuit that was embroidered in gold embellishments and sequins. Gold heels by the designer added to the bold statement.
Seeing the Spice Girls on stage was a highlight of the closing ceremonies for me. They certainly did not disappoint their anxious fans awaiting their arrival. Girl power still rules!!
