Designer Pamella Roland showed her Spring 2013 collection on Sept 7 at NY Fashion Week.  The collection offered an assortment of sleek dresses and a tightly edited selection of day to evening separates, a newer initiative for the designer influenced by her own busy lifestyle as an entrepreneur and working mother who always needs to be prepared to transform herself from day to night.

As an avid art collector and enthusiast, Pamella drew inspiration from the iconic American artist Ellsworth Kelly and the clean almost severe lines depicted in his paintings that speak to a harmony between the shapes they create. The collection includes stunning pieces with strong, geometric lines that signal a modern classicism. Linear shapes are also prevalent in tasteful cutouts and asymmetric hemline details that add a playful and modern edge to the collection. Classic silhouettes are updated with embellished collars and sleek back cutouts providing ideal pieces that any stylish woman can wear from day into evening.

The color palette focuses on neutrals, including shades of black, white, grey and taupe that are occasionally infused with vibrant hues of cobalt blue, yellow or blush.

Signature detailing and exquisite fabrics such as silk crepe, raw silk, silk taffeta, and lurex cotton tweed are prevalent throughout the collection, evoking a timeless modernism. Ladylike grosgrain belts accentuate and flatter the waistline, while exposed front zippers contribute a modern and futuristic spin on more classic shapes. Pamella Roland is known for her beautifully crafted embellishments, and this collection delights customers with treatments such as small, maco beads carefully hand placed to portray a liquid look. This is especially evident on a kaftan-inspired floor-length dress with beautiful beaded embellishment on the collar and sleeves, a standout piece in the line.

To further accentuate the collection’s clean lines and the intersection between the classic and the modern, this season’s set design was created by Kulapat Yantrasast, renowned architect from wHY Architecture. The set creates a modern, artistic backdrop that brings this standout collection to life.

The Pamella Roland collection launched in 2002 and, in the last decade, has become one of the leading eveningwear resources in the country. Designer and president, Pamella Roland, was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2010, and she has evolved the collection to become a brand of choice among style icons and celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Garner.
