Designer Monique Lhuillier presented her Fall/Winter 2013 collection on Feb 9 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  For this season opulence and drama served as her source of inspiration.  The collection was all about the undulating lines, the art deco motifs and intensely rich jewel tones such as deep malachite green, oxblood and amethyst.

Soft snow-like whites opened the show in three-dimensional cable knits perfect for day wear.  She then presented abstract prints in burnished golden brocades which were certainly opulent.  Silhouettes ranged from sleekly tailored dresses and slim-cut trousers to ample color-blocked luxurious furs.

Night was all about the dramatic.  Lace cigarette pants had a structured tulle overlay or a beaded duster.  Gowns were shortened to give a more modern interpretation of evening wear.

The shoe collection featured sleek geometric cut outs in suede leather, crushed velvet and satin.  Signature lace creates a reinterpretation of the bootie.  The jewelry was designed by Pamela Love for Monique Lhuillier.

Any one of her gowns could easily be a top contender for this years Oscar red carpet. I am sure that Monique Lhuillier has her eye on that carpet.

Sitting front row to make sure they did not miss out on her new collection was socialite Lydia Hearst, Bridget Moynahan, and Connie Britton.
