eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace and a leading destination for fashion, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) have launched the third iteration of YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION, a bold campaign designed to raise awareness against counterfeit goods and celebrate original design within the fashion industry. The 2013 spring tote collection, which includes 90 customized designs start at $100 and are for sale exclusively on eBay at fashionvault.ebay.com. The auction will end on March 25. The standard canvas tote is available at a ‘Buy It Now’ price for $50 if you do not care to bid.
“Counterfeits not only are illegal, they also damage brand owners, frustrate shoppers and undermine consumer confidence. eBay invests substantial resources to help provide millions of consumers a trusted, confident marketplace experience; this campaign is another example of our commitment to being a leading industry voice in the fight against counterfeits.”
Some of my favorites from the Spring collection up for bid now include the chained handle black and white monochromatic bag by Alice and Olivia, The satchel shape and clear plastic body bag by BCBGMAXAZRIA with a white leather flap and bottom, The Billy Reid layered patches tote which reference his laid-back Southern perspective at front, as a repeated patch proclaims: “Make Cornbread Not War!” and the Kate Spade New York one-of-a-kind hot-pink tote which features dual top brown leather handles, coordinating stitching and “YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION” spelled out in gold sequins on front.
“With 90 designers on board this year, each customizing a bag as one-of-a-kind to show their support, eBay and CFDA are dedicated to protecting original design and the integrity of the fashion industry,” said Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA.
