On Monday, June 3 the CFDA Fashion Awards took place at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. The host for the evening was Andy Cohen and as he pointed out this event has been called the “Prom of Fashion“. This is the night we celebrate and acknowledge the best and brightest young talent that the fashion industry has to offer. Also honored are the veterans who have raised and elevated this amazing industry with their vision and their incredible skills. This year’s presenters included Hillary Clinton who honored Oscar de la Renta with the Founder’s Award, Ralph Lauren presented The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award to Vera Wang and Jessica Chastain presented The International Award to Riccardo Tisci.
The red carpet arrivals consisted of nominated designers some of whom showed up arm-in-arm with their model/celebrity muse. The big winners of the night were Womenswear Designer of the Year: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Menswear Designer of the Year: Thom Browne and Accessories Designer of the Year: Phillip Lim for 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Swarovski Awards recognize and honor young Emerging Talent in the fashion industry. These awards included Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year: Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty for Suno, Swarovski Menswear Designer of the Year: Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne for Public School and Swarovski Accessories Designer of the Year: Pamela Love.
