Google Trends 2014 girl

Ever wonder what Fashionistas search for most often on the World Wide Web? Google has compiled and released it’s 14th annual list of the most commonly searched terminology and people for the year 2014. In case you are thinking that we turn to our friends or to an app on our smartphone for all of our fashion advice Google is about to make you think twice. The most searched fashion question this year was “how to wear a scarf” (Do you know the answer? If not, check out this video on 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 minutes). The second most asked question on our minds was what to wear to a wedding which was followed by what to wear to a job interview, what to wear on a first date, and coming in at number five was what to wear to a concert.

It seems we also have a passion for leggings and ankle boots but we are really not sure what to wear with either of these. Also making the list are how to wear a beanie and how to wear a maxi skirt.

When it came to Awards Season this year your favorite red carpet darling was Rihanna. The pop sensation really made us look twice when she attended the 2014 CFDA Awards in a sheer see-through silver sparkle dress by designer Adam Selman only covered by a fur shawl. Up next on the most fascinating people to walk the red carpet was Lorde, Lupita Nyong’o, Madonna, Pharrell Williams, Zendaya, Ben Kingsley, Solange Knowles, LeBron James and Kesha.

As far as which designers topped the most searched list this year it seems Bethany Mota, who had her meteoric rise to fame as a You Tube sensation posting fashion and beauty videos, came in at number one. She has since gone on to create a line of apparel and accessories for mall favorite Aéropostale. Most recently, Mota appeared as a guest judge on Season 13 of Project Runway. The next most searched designers in 2014 were Kate Spade, Oscar de la Renta (an icon who passed away this year), Rachel Roy, L’Wren Scott (who also passed away in 2014), Valentino followed Alexander Wang who was the most recent designer to collaborate on a sold-out collection with H&M.
