The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards took place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 11, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California. Despite the less than favorable weather conditions the red carpet did not disappoint. There were jaw-dropping moments at the Golden Globes 2015 created when JLO stepped out on the red carpet in that metallic draped gown with plunging cleavage and a cape designed by Zuhair Murad and there were celebrities who broke all the rules by wearing pants instead of the expected ball gown (Thank you Emma Stone who wore a jumpsuit from Lanvin and Singer Lorde in a crop top and tuxedo by Narciso Rodriguez).
Let’s take a closer look at 4 trends that dominated the star-studded red carpet arrivals at this year’s Golden Globes.
SILVER SCREEN – These 4 actresses sparkled on the red carpet in their silvery sequin gowns.
(From left to right) Ellie Kemper looked elegant and regal wearing a 500 pound gown by Naeem Khan, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, a Judith Leiber clutch, and Neil Lane baubles; Julianne Moore, who won a globe for her leading role in Still Alice, chose a metallic feathered frock which was custom designed by Givenchy couture; 50 Shades of Grey lead actress Dakota Johnson showed off some leg sparkling in her silver sequin gown by Chanel; and Diane Kruger went with a lesser known designer wearing a gown from Emilia Wickstead, Kwiat diamonds and a mother-of-pearl clutch by Emm Kuo.
RED REIGNS – Matching the red carpet always makes a statement.
(From left to right) Star of the hit series The Good Wife, Julianna Margulies, wore a Ulyana Sergeenko Couture jacquard corset dress; Taylor Schilling, who was nominated for her work on Orange is the New Black, went with a Ralph Lauren dress and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and clutch; HBO Girls star Allison Williams was just stunning in this red Armani Privé look; Viola Davis, who was nominated for her leading role in How To Get Away With Murder, walked the carpet in a Donna Karan Atelier strapless deep pleated red silk gazar gown.
WHITE HAUTE – These stars took a risk and went with an all white look.
(From left to right) Emily Blunt, nominated for Into The Woods, looked like a grecian goddess in Michael Kors; Julia Louis-Dreyfus chose a one-shoulder gown by Narciso Rodriguez and Irene Neuwirth jewels; Salma Hayek was the snow queen in a belted gown by Alexander McQueen; Kate Hudson bared it all in a plunging neckline tight fitting cut-out gown by Versace.
IT’S A CINCH – Ruching played a key role on the red carpet.
