Desigual RTW Fall 2016: Runway Review

I had the pleasure of attending Desigual’s Autumn/Winter 2016 NY Fashion Week show. I knew before I even walked into the venue I was about to experience a myriad of textures and graphic bold prints as this is the brands signature aesthetic. For this collection the inspiration was on “the international metropolises where personal expression can be created and demonstrated through many diverse styles.” The flamboyant color palette made up the “creative lifeblood” of this collection and really brought out the exuberant bustle behind the inspiration.

Global city living was brought to life on the runway and the Desigual woman was front and center in her wardrobe and her attitude. Floral brocade prints with Russian influences were mixed with velvet and faux fur. Floral tights made a stand out statement when paired with printed sheer gloves. Boater hats and berets were added to pump up the global culture of this Spanish brand. As we watched a collage of cultures collided on the runway as each look brought out a vibrancy that painted an international backdrop. Geometric patchwork coats were accentuated with faux fur scarves and belted at the waist so even when walking down a street in any metropolis the Desigual woman can own her look and bring it full circle into the 21st century.
