André Leon Talley, Vogue Editor-at-Large, and model turned blogger Hanneli Mustaparta will host a live webcast of Fashion Night Out: The Show.  On September 7th, 2010 at 7pm ET CBS.com will live stream the largest fashion show ever in New York City.  Presented by Macy’s and Maybelline New York, 150 top models will gather at Lincoln Center, the new home to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011, to showcase the best of Fall fashion trends.

Fashion Night Out is a global initiative taking place in over 15 countries.  In New York City FNO will take place on Friday, September 10, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.  More than 800 participating stores across the five boroughs will take part staging exciting, one-of-a-kind events in stores open after-hours to the public. Last year shoppers were able to see Sarah Jessica Parker singing standards with Oscar de la Renta, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen tending bar, as well as Michael Kors, Justin Timberlake, Kate Hudson, Rihanna and Gwen Stefani (just to name a few) at various stores throughout NYC supporting the industry.  This year promises even better and bigger events.

CBS will follow their live webcast with a TV special that is set to air on Tuesday, September 14th from 10pm to 11pm ET.  The special will give viewers a chance to take a glimpse into the making of Fashion Night Out.  Cameras will follow celebrities, designers, editors and retailers as they prepare for one of the most anticipated events of the year, providing a unique view of the creative and logistical work that goes into coordinating an event of this magnitude.

On Sunday, August 29th, 2010 Jimmy Fallon hosted the Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

They came out in style to dazzle and impress at the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards.  There were long flowing trains as seen on Sarah Hyland of the highly-nominated comedy Modern Family.  Project Runway judge and supermodel Heidi Klum took a risk wearing a Marchesa mini dress.  Tina Fey stepped up her style game wearing a black lace Oscar de la Renta.

Some of my Best Dressed awards would go to Glee’s Dianna Agron in modern strapless lace gown from Carolina Herrera and Christian Louboutin heels with jewels from Cartier.  A style nod goes out to Kim Kardashian in a white Marchesa grecian style long gown.  Modern Family’s Sophia Vergara is also wearing a strapless Carolina Herrera saffron beaded gown with loose curls complimenting her look.  These ladies shined on the red carpet.

1. Glee’s Dianna Agron is perfect on the red carpet with a double ruffled strapless organza gown by Carolina Herrera. Christian Louboutin heels and over $1.5 million dollars of jewels from Cartier compliment the red carpet look.

The designing dou Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai behind the label Vena Cava have designed a lower priced diffusion line for Bloomingdale’s own brand Aqua. Lisa and Sophie have been CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award nominees twice. Both were born in LA and they have collaborated with brands such as Gap and Converse in the past.

Now they have created a limited edition 19 piece collection which will be sold both at Bloomingdale’s stores and online at Bloomingdales.com.  The pieces retail for about $98.00 to $198.00.  They include pleated shorts, fun and flirty skits, chiffon tops and many cute short tribal and monochromatic dresses.

On August 8th, 2010 the teen hearthrobs of the year were honored for their work and their general “hotness” at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards. This year the award ceremony took place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.  The show is set to air on FOX this evening at 8pm ET.  TEEN CHOICE 2010 celebrates the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion.

The show was hosted by Katy Perry and the and the Guys of GLEE – Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling.

The fashion trend on the red carpet was all about the minidress.

Yesterday I wrote an article announcing the designers who would be participating in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011.  Today IMG Fashion has announced the preliminary schedule of dates and times for the shows and presentations.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be moving to their new uptown digs at Lincoln Center for Spring/Summer 2011.  NY Fashion Week will run from September 9th to the 16th.  Press registration is underway and the dates and times for all the shows and presentations will be posted on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week official web site soon.

The wedding of the year that was shrouded in secrecy has happened.  On Saturday, July 31, 2010 former first Daughter Chelsea Clinton wed Marc Mezvinsky.

Chelsea Clinton wore a custom Vera Wang strapless silk organza wedding gown with a wide beaded and crystal waistband.  Vera Wang also designed the bridesmaid’s gowns and was a guest at the wedding.  The bridesmaids wore a strapless bias cut lavender chiffon gown with a side drape and contrasting plum bow.

The mother-of-the-bride and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton wore a berry red embroidered silk gazar gown by Oscar de la Renta. Bill Clinton looked handsome as he escorted his only daughter down the aisle wearing a black tuxedo by Christopher Bailey for Burberry. The groom also wore Burberry.

The wedding was held at Astor Court Estates in Rhinebeck, New York.

The guest list included Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen and other esteemed celebrities and politicians.

Bananas!!  I Die!!  The celebrity stylist to the stars, Rachel Zoe, is returning to Bravo TV for a third season of THE RACHEL ZOE PROJECT premiering on Tuesday, August 3rd at 11pm ET.

Rachel’s current celebrity client list includes Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, Kate Beckinsale, Debra Messing, Demi Moore, Joy Bryant, Molly Sims, Eva Mendes, and Anne Hathaway.

In addition to styling editorial and advertising campaigns using her unique flair for glamour, Zoe has penned a style book called Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, and Everything Glamour. She recently joined forces with QVC selling a line of affordable accessories and faux fur.

Fashion Night Out 2010 will be taking place for a second season on September 10th from 6pm to 11pm ET.  The biggest fashion extravaganza will span the globe and be filled with “stylish surprises”.  In NYC, Vogue will stage the largest fashion show open to the public featuring over 200 models and seating for 1500 spectators.

In preparation Vogue’s own Hamish Bowles, European Editor at Large, and Lauren Santo Domingo, Contributing Editor, will be making an appearance on two episodes of the CW11’s Gossip Girl set to air on September 20th.  Gossip Girl will begin the Fall season in Paris.

On July 15th, Bowles was spotted filming with actress Kelly Rutherford.  The two were photographed in the Meatpacking District outside of Diane Von Furstenburg’s studio.  The episodes will highlight the planning of Fashion Night Out 2010.

You may know her from Season 7 of Project Runway when MILA HERMANOVSKI placed in the top three and showed a 10 piece Fall 2010 collection at Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week.

A native of Dallas, TX, the 40-year-old Mila Hermanovski works as a costumer for TV and film, as well as a personal stylist. She discovered her love of fashion at an early age, eventually pursuing that dream. She studied apparel design in college, getting her education at Rhode Island School of Design. She later underwent an internship in the UK for designer Val Piriou.

Soon, Mila Hermanovski found a job as an assistant designer for Calvin Klein and an associate at a fashion trend-forecasting publication. Her designs have been influenced by modern art and even music, which contribute to the feisty elements of her style.

Mila has now designed a line of unique leather fingerless gloves.  The collection is called REVOLVER.

“Two of my favorite accessories are gloves and rings. The only problem is that you can’t wear both simultaneously. I designed the “revolver” glove with this conundrum in mind. It’s named for the iconic gun shape the asymmetric line of the glove on the back of the hand form with the thumb and index finger.

They look just as great peeking out the sleeve of a jacket as they do with a t-shirt or a little party dress.” remarks Project Runway’s Mila.

The gloves retail for $175 up to $250 and are available for purchase on her blog Brave New Frock.

The gloves are made from incredibly soft, supple, buttery leathers. The single finger “revolver” glove has a metal side zip and is finished with a thin piping along top and bottom edges. Edges of fingers are cut. Undersides on all gloves are black nappa; they are unlined.

Miley Cyrus has announced that she “Can’t Be Tamed” and her new leather clad looks are causing fans to take notice.  Miley is out to shed her Hannah Montana good girl image and show that she is a mature star with a rocker side. Recently, Miley’s celebrity stylist Simone Harouche commented on the cover of her newly released album saying “I think the album cover was a strong statement saying in the most simple way that she can’t be tamed literally and metaphorically. She’s growing up, getting older, doing her own thing, and she’s in control now. The outfit we chose for the cover represented that.”

“She is really into leather and Robin’s Jean’s leather jacket is such a cool staple piece,” says Harouche. “It’s embellished without being overly done and the fit is amazing. It’s the perfect example of rock-and-roll clothing.”

For the cover of the album 17 year old Miley is wearing a laced-up midriff corset top, a Robin’s Jean black leather jacket costing $1,045 and low-rise matching $825 studded leggings.  Her look is inspired by rockstars such as Joan Jett and Blondie.  The hair is left in messy loose waves.

Pop singing sensation RIHANNA has turned from a little girl growing up in Barbardos to an American fashion icon.  When it comes to her music and her fashion she is fearless, never afraid to step out of bounds and push the limits. She has choreographed a life that has landed her on People Magazine’s list of 10 Best Dressed Stars of 2008.  Last year Rihanna ranked number seventeen on Glamour Magazine’s 50 Most Glamorous Women of 2009.  This Grammy winning artist has graced the covers of numerous fashion magazines both in the US and internationally including the July 2010 issue of Elle.

The celebrity and editorial stylist who has guided Rihanna in her sartorial choices is Mariel Haenn.  When it comes to collaborating with the pop diva “It’s all about being edgy and pushing the envelope.” Mariel remarked.

In her recent music video titled Rockstar 101, which premiered on May 25, 2010, Rihanna called upon London-based Swedish designer Fannie Schiavoni to custom design some exclusive pieces for her to wear over black body paint.  In a total of eight different scenes she is seen wrapped in heavy metal body chains. When asked about working with Rihanna on the Rockstar 101 video Schiavoni said “I discussed ideas with Rihanna and her stylist Mariel Haenn the day before the shoot and then I went to my hotel in LA and made everything that night. The next day was the video shoot and I literally chained Rihanna into everything piece by piece.  It could have been awkward seeing she was almost naked when I fitted her, but Rihanna was really cool and relaxed about it all so we just had fun with it.”

Born in Sweden, Fannie Schiavoni moved to London when she was 18 to study tailoring. She later progressed to the BA Fashion Design Technology course at London College of Fashion and did a number of internships alongside her studies for designers such as Hussein Chalayan, Giles Deacon and Julien Macdonald.

Her background in tailoring created a passion for handcraft and attention to detail. This is reflected in her accessories pieces, which are hand crafted and constructed by Fannie in her London studio.

Recently she was awarded the NEWGEN sponsorship from the British Fashion Council for her work.  This honor includes a studio and space at London Fashion week, as well as entry to both Paris and New York Fashion Week.

It is that time of year again when Fashion Designers are busy showing their Resort 2011 collections. Some designers, such as Oscar de la Renta, chose to live stream their runway show to showcase their collection to the masses.

Cynthia Rowley has chosen to go one step further and bring her Resort 2011 collection directly to the consumer.  No worry if you do not have press credentials.

For me pop sensation Rihanna has always been a fashion icon.  She is a 22 year old young woman who has proven she is not afraid to take risks and the benefits are easy to see as she has continues to rise to stardom.  Rihanna is a fashion chameleon changing her hairstyle and wardrobe as often as most of us change our socks.  I was excited to see that ELLE MAGAZINE had asked Rihanna to grace the cover of their July issue.  The wardrobe styling was hot and steamy much like a July day.  For the cover this beauty from Barbados is wearing Balmain’s Fall 2010 sequin mini dress.

The ladies of Sex and the City are back and they are sexier than ever! On Thursday, May 27th, Sex and the City 2 opened in theaters nationwide and abroad– and today, one day after the big opening, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon all sat down with the co-hosts of THE VIEW for a dose of girl talk like you’ve never seen before! This was the first time all of the stars were gathered on The View’s stage, and if you’re a fan of the cast, you’re surely a fan of their style.

This evening the cast of GLEE takes on the always flamboyant Lady Gaga as they belt out “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance“  But Glee is not only about the music tonight but also about the outrageous costumes.

Costume Designer Lou Eyrich took on quite the challenge to interpret Lady Gaga for a high school choir performance.  “I have great respect for Lady Gaga,” she said. “This episode is a tribute to her genius. The costumes are not replicas; we wanted it look like the kids made them.”

On this evening’s episode Lea Michele channels Kermit the Frog while Chris Colfer (Kurt) gives us late Alexander McQueen balancing on 10-inch ‘Armadillo’ platforms.

The Giorgio Armani Privé “orbit” dress that Lady Gaga wore to the 2010 Grammy Awards will be recreated for a pregnant Dianna Agron who plays Quinn.

Glee airs tonight at 9pm ET on Fox following American Idol.

Sarah Jessica Parker arrived on the red carpet looking absolutely stunning and stylish wearing a one shoulder chiffon neon yellow Spring/Summer 2010 couture Valentino gown. The look is completed with a pair of silver Ferragamo double platform pumps.

Cynthia Nixon chose a black Carolina Herrera silk gazaar draped strapless gown with silver leaf embellishment.

Kristin Davis is pretty in pink wearing a fitted Jean Desses for Decades ruched silk chiffon gown with a feminine bow and draping at the waist.  The look was accessorized with Fred Leighton jewels, a Judith Leiber clutch and Christian Louboutin heels.

Kim Cattrall glimmered in a gold embellished low cut V-neck Naeem Khan floor-length gown.  She added a small floral tapestry bag.

This evening, May 3rd, 2010, The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will honor “The American Woman” with a gala event deemed the” Oscars of the East Coast”.  Celebrity stylists, make-up artists and hair stylists are all on high alert.

This year the event will be co-hosted by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Oprah Winfrey and Gap’s Executive Vice President of Global Design, Patrick Robinson.

To celebrate Gap’s sponsorship and tie-in to the new exhibit, American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity, Designer Patrick Robinson will team up with young designers Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Thakoon and Sophie Theallet to design gowns to be worn by celebrities attending the gala.  These gowns will be auctioned off with proceeds going towards The Costume Institute.  In addition to the gowns, Gap has been given the opportunity to design a limited collection of tees that are based upon the fundamental archetypes of the American Woman.

These archetypes of American femininity include the “Heiress” and the “Gibson Girl” (1890s), the “Bohemian” (early 1900s), the “Suffragist” and “Patriot” (1910s), the “Flappers” (1920s) and the “Screen Siren” (1930s).

As many of you may already know Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has left midtown Bryant Park for a more uptown vibe.  From September 9th through the 16th, 2010 NY Fashion Week will relocate to Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center.  With that move will come some transitions and some changes.

In a press release, Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide said “This is a very exciting day for us, The move has allowed IMG to reinvent and improve so many aspects of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as develop a stronger link to the surrounding facilities and spaces available at Lincoln Center and the neighborhood.  This is the first season in what we are confident will be a long ‘run’ at Lincoln Center.”

Some improvements will be a spacious lobby with a new facade that will allow for sponsor booths and a schedule of the day’s events projected on a wall to make it easier for guests to stay on time and move around the four spaces. Bryant Park housed three “tents” called the Tent, Salon and Promenade.  At Lincoln Center those tents will be replaced with The Theater, a 969-seat venue with a larger backstage area and a video screen; The Stage, a 740-seat space and The Studio, a 396-seat space.  With the additional space available IMG will add a fourth presentation space called The Box.  This new space will house smaller presentations for designers not wishing to put on a runway show.  The Box could also be used for lectures, forums and to meet with the press.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the new Director of Fashion, Lincoln Center said “We are delighted to provide Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a new home and an extraordinary array of possibilities. Over the past few years, Lincoln Center has undergone a transformation, resulting in a campus that is aesthetically spectacular as well as extremely accessible. We look forward to providing the fashion industry with one central location for activities in and around the tents. In addition, we plan to welcome consumers with a dynamic array of opportunities to engage with the art of fashion.”

With social media growing in leaps and bounds IMG Fashion has embraced this technology and will offer digital services that did not exist previously. Designers will have access to a designer centric website that will allow for smoother registration and credential checks.  There will be online RSVP and the use of bar-coded invites so guests can check themselves in and wait times will be greatly reduced.

Fern Mallis just announced she will be leaving her position as IMG senior vice-president following a successful nine year run as the global ambassador of NY Fashion Week.  She will be launching her own executive advisory and consulting firm, Fern Mallis LLC.  In a statement, Mallis said “I’ll be at the shows in September. They absolutely want me to be there and I want to be there, I’m assuming the designers are still going to invite me to their shows.”

With Lincoln Center offering so many cultural experiences there will be many outdoor cafes and seating areas to enjoy in addition to an outdoor garden. This will truly be a season where “art meets fashion“.

You might know him as the king of “fierce” but apparently Season 4 Project Runway winner Christian Siriano is out to prove he is no one trick pony.  In a Bravo TV Special debuting on April 5th at 10pm ET/PT Christian Siriano will have his “moment”.  The one-hour special, Christian Siriano: Having A Moment, was taped in 2009 and shows his journey as prepares to show his Spring 2010 collection at NY Fashion Week.  This will be his third season showing his collections.

We see Christian and his staff as they go through model castings and fittings and in the middle of all the craziness actress Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott drop in for a fitting and hemline adjustment.  Short but never “slutty”.  His busy schedule also includes a meeting with Singer Estelle’s Stylist and a red carpet dress fitting with” 30 Rock” actress Katrina Bowden according to Bravo.

Since winning Project Runway Season 4 for his “fierce” designs this young fashion designer has gone on to create a shoe collection for Payless, designed a line of maternity wear called “Fierce Mamas” and even had his red carpet moment at the Golden Globe Awards when “Mad Men’s” Christina Hendricks wore a peach organza strapless ruffled gown adapted from his Spring 2010 collection.  His most recent project was showing his Fall 2010 collection at NY Fashion Week.

Apparently his fame has also changed his jargon with new phrases such as J’adore and genius both spoken with a certain dialect as to raise eyebrows.  His newest signature phrase du jour is “moment” or “having a moment” depending on how rushed he is.

Jennifer Aniston gets down and dirty with rumored love interest Gerard Butler for the April issue of W Magazine.  Speed Trap was shot in the canyon country of California “where damsels aren’t always in distress and lawmen sometimes break the rules“.  The 13 page editorial will hit newsstands on March 17th.

Jennifer and Gerard co-star in the film The Bounty Hunter where Butler plays a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter (Milo Boyd) assigned to track down his bail jumping ex-wife, Nicole Hurly.  The film premieres nationwide next week.

On March 7th, the 82nd Annual Academy Awards had us watching with anticipation to see all the red carpet fashion. What would they wear? What would be the trends that really made a fashion statement?

Your questions have been answered. There were three trends that truly stood out at the 2010 Oscars among the lovely nominees and presenters.

The first statement making trend was straight from the runways of Paris Fashion Week. METALLICS… Sandra Bullock, who won the coveted Best Actress in a leading role for “The Blind Side”, wore a gleaming column fitted gold metallic gown with exquisite embroidery by Marchesa. She looked like old Hollywood glamour. Kate Winslet, who won for Best Actress in a leading role in 2009, wore a simple strapless gold gown by Yves Saint Laurent with a yellow-diamond necklace from Tiffany & Co. Sarah Jessica Parker went with a quite controversial haute couture yellow Chanel gown with silver detailing. Not only was the gown itself in question but also her choice of Designer as she recently signed on as the President and Chief Creative Officer of Halston. The next “golden girl” was young Miley Cyrus who wore an empire waist strapless gold tone gown by Jenny Packham. The gold standard was set by Cameron Diaz who chose a sparkling gown with metallic ribbons and pailettes by Oscar de la Renta. She looked like the gold statue that stood tall at the entrance to the tented Oscar red carpet.

Another big trend on the red carpet this year was RUFFLES. The standout in this category who was ruffled from head to toe was Vera Farmiga who wore a magenta pleated strapless gown by Marchesa. Some thought it stunning and others felt the ruffles overpowered her and the dress was wearing her. Demi Moore, who was a presenter, looked flawless in an Atelier Versace tiered blush gown accessorized with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, Versace heels and Ferragamo clutch. Avatar star Zoe Saldana in purple and black Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci was surrounded by a sea of ruffles. Her amethyst and diamond jewelry was from Lorraine Schwartz. Elizabeth Banks also had a gray train of ruffles in a princess silhouette Versace with Fred Leighton diamonds.

The last trend I am going to mention at the 2010 Oscars was the pop of SPRING COLORS, lilac and hues of pink. Queen Latifah was queen of the carpet in a lilac satin Badgley Mischka jewel encrusted one shoulder gown with diagonal wrapped beading. Wearing a touch of spring was another over-the-top controversial sartorial choice, Charlize Theron. She is a stunning and talented actress who drew attention to herself in the wrong direction by wearing ruched rosettes as a bra. The Dior lilac gown may just win her the “booby” prize. We will have to wait for the Fashion Police for the final verdict on this one. Best Supporting Actress nominee Anna Kendricks wore a pale pink draped Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The crystal Judith Leiber clutch she carried gave the dress a splash of glam.

“This red carpet was whimsical, thank God. It was the most interesting red carpet in a long time,” said Suze Yalof Schwartz, Glamour magazine’s executive fashion editor at large. “You want to see a dress that makes you say `Wow!’ and I saw at least six of those”.

Rodarte, founded by Sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy in 2005, showed during NY Fashion Week they can still stage an amazing fashion show.  For Fall 2010, the Sisters went back to their roots to explore the culture of Juarez and small Mexican border towns.  They described the inspiration as ethereal “sleepwalking between worlds“, sleepy towns that appeared almost abandoned.

The collection consisted of chunky knits sweaters, crocheted cardigans and intricate knitwear.  If there is one thing they have proven over and over it is that they know how to create home spun looking knitwear.  They seem to lean towards invoking a nomadic feel when working with wools and knitwear.  There were also numerous almost vintage like floral prints in subdued tones.  The color palette was varied with shades of pink, ivory and muddy earth tones.

The Mexican reference was seen in some of the aztec prints where they layered mismatched patchwork pieces. Pants were worn under skirts and often with layered socks. Ballerina ribbons entwined the ankles of the models. Nicholas Kirkwood designed the shoes which added another dimension to the collection.  The purple, black and white shoes made a statement all their own as did the crimson red shoes.

Embellished and lace hosiery also added to the ethereal feel of the looks as they faded to childlike white fairy tale lace gowns.  The last few models remained on stage as the room faded to blacklight and their shoes lit up with tiny bulbs as candles burned and wax dripped behind them.  As I said another wonderfully staged collection proving the Mulleavy sisters worthy of their numerous accolades and projects.  These young sisters are the “ones to watch“…

On Monday, February 15th, Marc Jacobs presented his Fall 2010 collection in a most unusual way.  Upon entering the Lexington Armory there stood a box shrouded in paper.  As the lights dimmed and the guests scurried to take their seats the paper was torn and 56 lady like models were revealed.  Mixed lyrics from “Over The Rainbow” started and the first model stepped out of the box and started her way down the runway toward the guests and the crowd of photographers awaiting that first look.

What can I say about the collection?  It was the All-American girl.  Gray was the predominant color which faded to lemon yellow as the pure and simple RTW line transitioned into a more elegant evening look.  Despite the conservative feel of the collection with hemlines that fell below the knee and librarian sweaters there was a mix of fur on the coats and one sparkly trench with a thick fur collar that I am sure many guests were lusting for.  The models clutched delicate chain strapped purses some trimmed with fur.  The hair and make-up was simple and effortless matching the traditional muted colors of the garments.

“These were gorgeous, real clothes that were beautifully done,” said Joe Zee, creative director for Elle magazine. “Don’t you walk away feeling elated? Isn’t that the whole point of fashion?”

The clothes were easy on the eye and easy to wear compared with Marc’s previous collections.  Was the designer having an inner stream of consciousness projecting forward to the next exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute whose theme is aptly called …  American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.  The exhibit is set to open on May 5th, 2010 with the Gala Ball scheduled to take place on May 3rd. Perhaps? Only time will tell.

To really get a sense of the collection and the presentation you must watch it. Photos simply do not do it justice so sit back and enjoy the entire uncut version.

“For Fall, I drew inspiration From Chinese Warrior and military suits.  Strong silhouettes with a tough, chic edge.  Long sleeves, high necks, strong shoulders with short skirts.  Lots of leg… they look almost soldier like.  I’m ready for Fall!”

Monday, February 15th, I attended the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2010 fashion show held in the Promenade tent.  Monique was introduced to the world of glamour and fashion at a young age when her family traveled extensively. She left home at age 15 to pursue her dream of working in the world of fashion. She is best known for her bridal and evening wear but this season opened with jacquard, lacquered matelassé and wool crepe short dresses and skirts. Crimson reds, dragon printed jacquards and velvet gave the collection a feminine edge

There was a refined business power suit made of black and white tweed with frayed tulle detail.  She also showed a beautiful Crimson jacquard strapless dress with a gold leather chain bolero.  This look was simple and yet exuded elegance.

As the show progressed the hemlines dropped to floor length.  Her soldier effect transitioned to soft and flowing gowns.  There were one shoulder chiffon gowns, asymmetrically draped gowns and a stunning form fitting black sequin long sleeve cheongsam column gown that would be appropriate for both young and old.

The final look was a Shanghai red duchesse draped gown with a floral skirt. The shoes were Bruno Frisoni and jewelry was designed by Tony Duquette sold in Saks Fifth Avenue.
