On October 21st Project Runway Finalist Kenley Collins and three young aspiring fashion designers came together at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC to showcase their Spring 2010 collections.  The evening opened with a compelling video from Gilda’s Club NYC, the charity beneficiary of this event.  50% of all ticket sales were donated to this charitable organization providing help and support to cancer victims. Sinsu Co hosted the show and gave a brief introduction to the founders of SEAM COLLECTIVE and the designers.

Kenley Collins, taking her inspiration from American heroine Amelia Earhart, opened the show. Her collection was very true to her design aesthetic and included silk organza, floral prints with bows, and headpieces with netting detail.  Her final look was an electric blue gown with exposed lace petticoat and shoulder detailing.

Sheila Frank, who interned for Charlotte Ronson, used nature as her muse.  Her color palette was muted and she created intricate detailing with pleating and the use of billowy silhouettes.

Taking the runway next was the co-founder and creative director of SEAM COLLECTIVE, Elizabeth Rynish.  Liz gave the audience a sci-fi edge with her vibrant fabrics.  Channeling the 1960’s the collection mixed retro with a fashion forward feel.

Marissa Erskine, a recent graduate of FIT, showed her first ready-to-wear collection from her label Lovely RisSA.  Looking to butterflies, cocoons and flowers she showed that she is one to watch.  Incorporating gold metallic organza and intricate braiding her designs were modern and accentuated the curves of the female figure.  Her final look was a black long gown based upon a tulip in springtime.

Following the fashion show was a complimentary cocktail reception and a silent auction where guests had the opportunity to bid on unique garments from each designer. Established in 2005, SEAM COLLECTIVE, Inc. began with a group of female business professionals in New York City dedicated to promoting the advancement of female designers and facilitating their growth by providing access to a wide range of resources and publicity. Throughout their endeavors, SEAM is dedicated to not only discovering fresh talent, but also nurturing the designers throughout the process so they can achieve their long-term goals.
