For Fall 2012, Joanna Mastroianni takes us on a journey… with Iris Apfel.  The fashion icon and her stunning personal style, incorporating the finest couture in her own unique way inspired Mastroianni to imagine the ultimate fashionista and what she might wear in her favorite haunts around the world.

The journey begins in New York City where Joanna transforms the delicate filigree of tree branches into fabric, embroidery and beading on everything from gowns to necklaces.  As the snow falls the ornamentation shifts to elaborate embroideries of opalescent seed pearls, creamy translucent glass and shimmering silver.

Next stop on the journey is Paris for an evening at Maxims.  Mastroianni’s Muse is adorned in dark sophisticated dresses lavished with bronze, pewter, copper and gold ornamentation.  The elegant evening glove returns.  It is a work of art; feathered, bejeweled and beaded.

As the journey continues there are influences of Asian street style.  Black flashed with red in jackets and tunics with masterful seaming to accentuate a woman’s curves.  The color palette is rich with shades of golden green, vibrant jade and peacock blue.

The collection is filled with artistry at every turn.  There is a wealth of detail hand executed and one-of-a-kind.  Fabrics that appear to be tufted were created by shirring, shredding and cutting silk organza into tiny strips.  Faceted chunks of metal were covered in leather giving the collection a modern edge.

The Fall presentation was imaginative and beautiful.  The combination of rich colors, striking embroidery and mixing of unexpected fabrics created a bold and adventurous collection that is ultra-feminine, young and sexy that floated effortlessly down the catwalk.

My meticulous attention to details, allows me to create special accessories that are chic, fun and modern. It is all about couture meeting Rock ‘n Roll, and rocking” said Mastroianni.
