Costume Institute Gala At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art

The Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala has often been dubbed the “Oscars of Fashion“.  The Spring 2012 gala will take place on May 7th and this year for the first time the red carpet arrivals will be streamed live on three different sites. Starting at 6:30pm ET you are invited to join me at the biggest fashion soiree on the east coast.  Hosted by Model Elettra Wiedemann and journalist William Norwich the red carpet coverage can be viewed online at Amazon , Vogue.com and the Metropolitan Museum of Art/Met Gala.

I will also be live tweeting the red carpet arrivals starting at 6:30pm so be sure to follow me on Twitter @FashionistaNYC.  The hosts will be taking your questions on Twitter using hashtag #metquestions from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

The Met Gala proceeds the opening of the Spring 2012 exhibit titled Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.  The opening night gala will be co-chaired by actress Carey Mulligan, designer Miuccia Prada, and US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The exhibit, which is located on the first floor of the museum, will explore the striking affinities between these two Italian designers from different eras which was inspired by Miguel Covarrubias’s “Impossible Interviews” for Vanity Fair.

The gallery at the Costume Institute opens to the public on May 10th and runs through August 19, 2012.

Be sure to mark your calendars now and join me for all the glamour and the glitz that fashion has to offer.
