BCBG Max Azria’s Fall 2016 RTW collection showcased a bold artistic ingenuity. The new collection was heavy on layering shown in a rich winter palette striking a great balance between formal and informal styles. “The performer was our muse, so there are bits of shine everywhere.” Commented Max Azria. These looks were the perfect coordination of comfort and whimsical attire. From color-blocked bags to exotic shearling trimmed footwear, accessories complimented carefully constructed silhouette layers in each one of these looks.
Light grey, cream and camel shades opened the BCBG Max Azria fall collection. These tamed colors gave way to a rich merlot red, dark blue ink and shimmering carbon color palette. Layered beautifully across each layer is a transition into the next color. As we strip off each layer a new look is reimagined and this is the power of a smart cohesive collection.
Cable knit sweaters and long flowing layered dresses and coats dominated this collection. Just because the weather may be chilly, this certainly didn’t stop BCBG Max Azria from creating functional fall looks that are as elegant as a summer formal dress. Complementing these looks were unique slashed leggings matched with leather loafers and sandals. This is a truly carefree and easy look that is perfect for nearly any setting.
One of the looks that stood out was the black leather asymmetrical jumper worn over a striped sweater and paired with Gold Lurex (a fabric that dominated the runway) seamless leggings with slash details. A Merlot combo leather bucket bag gave the look a cool bohemian vibe.
Raw denim was another look that was prevalent in this fall collection. Using denim in bold new ways for fall is both functional and easy to wear. These strong denim looks are perfect for everyday street wear that can be worn in any season. These are playful looks with the subtle frills and patchwork knit embellishments.
The textures and styling of this collection was meticulous, rich and completely unique. Fall is a season that doesn’t have a set of rules and neither does fall fashion. With the weather consistently changing these layered looks offer the functionality and grace that we would expect from BCBG Max Azria’s bohemian aesthetic.
