With Fall 2010 NY Fashion Week approaching and press registration underway there is a great deal of buzz about fashion bloggers and their role (and seat assignment) at Fashion Week. In it’s final debut at the Bryant Park location NY Fashion Week is scheduled for February 11 – 18th, 2010.  In September,  the shows will relocate to a new venue uptown at Lincoln Center.

Sitting front and center at such top shows as Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Y-3’s Yohji Yamamoto and Alexander Wang will be 13 year old wunderkind fashion blogger TAVI GEVINSON. This tween, who hails from Oak Park, Chicago, has her own fashion blog called STYLE ROOKIE. She started writing her blog when she was only 11 years old. Style Rookie now has 4 million readers.

Tavi describes herself as a “tiny 13-year-old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats” Her love of fashion and style led to a collaboration with sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte where she acted as their muse for their diffusion line with Target.

To her credit she is already listed on Wikipedia, has been on the cover of the relaunched Pop magazine and written a poignant reflection on Darfur for Pop, interviewed by Pixie Geldof in Katie Grand’s new issue of Love and appeared in a NY Times article.

Google her and you will get 408,000 hits. Her prolific and analytic online observations have also landed her a column in the January issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

From a recently posted extract from her batmitzvah speech, Tavi writes: “The Nazarites wore just enough to keep them warm, believing that that was the wish of God.

Over this past year I have become increasingly interested in clothing, and have developed a clearer understanding of the idea that clothing can be art…

Using fashion as self-expression can go beyond wearing a shirt with a slogan, as clothing has the ability to evoke an entire feel, or atmosphere, or emotion, or world.”

I expect Tavi, who may not be understood by her classmates, will become a household name in the world of fashion bloggers and this 13 year old is not going to fade away anytime soon.
